After competing in 10 races across five states in the 2019 season, Rib Mountain Racing topped the season’s rankings in the United States Adventure Racing Association National points series.
Most wouldn’t expect that bikers would find an epic ride on the backroads in central Wisconsin, but racers at Ironbull’s inaugural Red Granite Grinder found just that on Oct. 19 A climb to the top of Rib Mountain at the start of the race set the tone for the day.
The IRONBULL Ultra Trail race course’s planned rock scrambles, roots and elevation gain already offered a significant challenge to racers on Saturday, October 5. Add in slippery rocks and roots, mud and rain and the difficulty level for this event intensified.
IRONBULL set a collaborative tone by working with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to allow a segment of the Red Granite Grinder bike race to run through Rib Mountain State Park for one day.
Although only a small percent of runners have an completed ultra marathon, IRONBULL’s inaugural event, the IRONBULL Ultra Trail, will offer something for everyone. IRONBULL has partnered with Wausau Events, Woodson YMCA, and Wausau Noon Optimist Club to draw people to this community-wide event.
