Are you up for the Challenge?
The IRONBULL Ring of Snow Challenge is a solo or team relay challenge on skis with Wausau Nordic Ski Club and IRONBULL! Join in the festivities with beverages, food, and music at Tribute Golf Course. Enjoy the community atmosphere while putting in solid Birkie training and complete as many laps as possible in the allotted time category, or strap on snowshoes for a race or twilight hike!
This race is held on a golf course so it may be held in low snow conditions. Snow conditions will be updated on the Facebook event page. The participant guide offers detailed event information, rules, and more here.
This new event replaces the prior Badger State Games Nordic Ski event. This event is intended to appeal to a broad array of winter enthusiasts who are more focused on their personal goals or competing as teams that bring friends together for a joint challenge to introduce new participants in the broader ski & snowshoe community!
Solo or team up!
Go solo or team up with one or more friends/family. Earn bonus laps by participating in the snowman making and cornhole contests! Will pure grit outpace fun and games? The race is capped to ensure snow integrity and space on course.
Double Up!
Following completion of the ski events, a competitive snowshoe run will take place. Or bring a headlamp for the guided Twilight Hike (approximately 1 hour) and explore the woods of Sylvan Hill! Add any snowshoe event to any of the ski races at half price!
BRing the kids!
Bring the kids for this family-friendly event! A free kids ski lesson will take place from 2:15 to 2:45 pm with equipment provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Kids can cheer on the skiers racing their final lap then take off on their own ski at 3:05 pm. The kids course will be about 2K and is targeted for kids ages 5-10. All kids receive a finisher medal in the free kids ski. Families may also join in on the cornhole and snowman making fun.
And kids under 18 automatically receive $10 off during their registration process for the other events!
Location
Tribute Golf Course (1001 Golf Club Rd, Wausau, WI 54403). All participants have access to indoor space at Bunkers to warm up only steps from the race course!
