Race report: IRONBULL Ultra Trail – COVID Edition

Race report: IRONBULL Ultra Trail COVID Edition

Rob Hoehn is a guest blog contributor located in Central Wisconsin. Last year the IRONBULL Ultra Trail was Rob’s first ultramarathon. But returning this year would look a lot different. First, due to permitting, race directors created a second 50k course with trails entirely on private properties. So Rob no longer had any home-field advantage. With the trails on private property, no spectators were allowed on course, requiring runners to tap deep within themselves as Rob shares in his blog post. The IRONBULL Ultra Trail was just the second time Rob got to toe the starting line in 2020 due to COVID. But now Rob adds ultra triathlon finisher to his resume after completing the Washington Island Ultra earlier this summer.

Congrats Rob on breaking six hours at the IRONBULL Ultra Trail 50k!

And Rob’s not the only one that enjoyed the race course. Here’s what another racer shared:

“When I learned I would be racing at Rib Mountain State Park, I was disappointed. However, the private trails were absolutely perfect! Loved the colors, the views, and the terrain. Please make sure to send our gratitude to the land owners who helped make this possible. Their property is absolutely beautiful and I'm grateful for their willingness to share it with us.”
