What is the Wausau Paddle Adventure?

Pass under several bridges along the paddle!

Pass under several bridges along the paddle!

This free flatwater paddle will allow people to experience Wausau’s waterways in the heart of downtown Wausau. You may float at a leisurely pace or race and get some competitive juices flowing. You can paddle the course anytime and as many times as you want! You may participate as a small group or solo on any non-motorized boat or SUP of your choosing. We want to offer paddlers of all ability levels a free self-guided paddle to stay active and fit during this unprecedented time.

There are two loops, starting and ending at the boat landing at Oak Island Park in Wausau. Since there are no buoys to mark the route, download the map and GPX file.

Since we want to make this not just competitive, but fun, we want to encourage all ability levels. So we have lots of ways to win prizes! See info below on prizes. Anyone that registers and submits a result and picture (see rules) will be eligible for prizes!

We ask that you register for the event so we can track the community impact, even if you’re out for a leisurely paddle. You may register onsite.

Participants can do the route as many times as they wish and get a raffle entry for each time they participate! Make sure you bring your phone to take a selfie along the route.

Due to COVID-19, we ask that you abide by all current regulations.

Encourage friends and family to join in and share our Facebook event.

Expect to see turtles sunning themselves along the route and lots of birds.
