Choose your own adventure 5k Trail RUn or walk

April 24- may 3, 2020

Nine Mile County Recreation Area
221700 Redbud Road (formerly 8704)
Wausau, WI

Thank you for participating in our inaugural Choose Your Own Adventure event. Based on your feedback, we will keep the green (ski) trail marked through May 10, 2020.

We have another course, the Island Hop Adventure now open through May 17, 2020. Check it out here.

We are also working on more courses in Edgar and athens in the upcoming weeks, so stay tuned!

What is choose your own adventure 5k?

This free marked trail run or walk will allow people in the Wausau area to get outside on one of our premiere trail systems. You may participate as a family, with your pet, or in solitude. We want to offer our community a free activity to stay active and fit during this unprecedented time.

We have two marked routes which are 5k (3.1 miles) each. But there’s a twist - you may choose to mix and match the two courses to find the fastest route! We want you to get more fresh air and come back to do the course again and again!

Since we know some of you may be venturing to Nine Mile County Recreation Area for the first time and it may be your first time on trails, we want to encourage all ability levels. So we have lots of ways to win prizes and you don’t need to be the fastest to win! If you’re worried about getting lost, download the course map and GPX files.

Due to Safer at Home orders, we ask that you abide by all current regulations including social distancing and travel restrictions (only local participants please).

Participants can do the course as many times as they wish and get a raffle entry for each completion of the course! Make sure you bring your phone to scan the QR codes and take a selfie along the course.

The challenge must be completed between April 24 and May 3, 2020. No pre-registration is required.

Although you may not be able to physically race with your friends, encourage them to join in and share our Facebook event. Or make it a family adventure. Or just a fun walk for Fido.

Note: This is NOT an official race and no entry fee. This event is totally at your own risk. Be safe, make good choices, follow all applicable directives regarding public lands and CDC recommendations, and make sure you have gear suitable for your local environment.
