Start/finish
The start/finish is located near Briq’s in Rib Mountain on 9/27/20. Parking is available at the Olson Carpet One lot (4711 Rib Mountain Drive, Wausau, WI 54401) adjacent to Briq’s. Feel free to bring a few bucks to enjoy an ice cream cone.
We encourage you to ride your bike rather than drive your car to the event!
Overview
There are two loops - a south loop (7 miles) and a north loop (5 miles). The two loops may also be combined for a single loop (11 miles). Each route is a relatively flat loop. The loops have maps, cue sheets, and GPS files below. The south loop is all on pavement with the north loop having a <1 mile segment on gravel at Bluegill Bay County Park.
Each of the loops highlight the town of Rib Mountain bike routes with road accommodations open to traffic. Routes are marked.
Description South Loop
Riders pass a shelter and bike fix-it station, then travel under Hwy 51 through a tunnel. After passing the Doepke Nature Trail on the Hwy R trail, riders pass the SAFER fire station onto Trillium Road. At the end of Trillium Road, riders christen the brand-new Trillium Trail, using several boardwalks on the dedicated bike & pedestrian trail. After re-connecting to roads, riders follow Azalea and Sunrise Roads.
Description North loop
Riders head north on the newly paved Swan Ave enroute to Bluegill Bay County Park. Riders follow gravel trails (only non-paved section of the loop) along Lake Wausau then head west on Robin Lane to the 51/29 Trail. Riders pass utilize several boardwalks on this dedicated off-road bike path. After passing a shelter and bike fix-it station, riders may return to Briq’s or travel under Hwy 51 through a tunnel to connect to the Hwy R trail as part of the 11 mile loop.
